Newport Folk Festival. Blackheart Honeymoon is a Seattle-based folk-rock quintet, formed in 2011 with Ian Prebo (vocals/guitar) and Wes Amundsen (upright bass). Blackheart Honeymoon soon expanded to include Steve Andrea (guitar) and eventually Adrienne Marie (keys/vocals) and Dusty Hayes (drums/vocals). The album featured the hits Marlene On The Wall and Left Of Center. She hit even greater heights with her second album Solitude Standing, which contained the hits Luka and Toms Diner. In many ways, she opened the way for the rush of female singer-songwriters that followed in the late eighties and early nineties. She continues to have hit albums and to play to packed houses on both sides of the Atlantic.

One of six live albums issued to document the Newport Folk Festival that was staged July 26-28, 1963, The Evening Concerts, Vol. 1 effortlessly echoes the diversity of the festival itself. The recording is dominated by three performers: bluesman Mississippi John Hurt with four songs, Sam Hinton, and the queen of folk, Joan Baez, with three. It's a balance that seems peculiar today, all the more so since the highlighted performances aren't necessarily the best aired that weekend.
