Jerry Jaye (born October 19, 1937 in Manila, Arkansas) is an American country/rockabilly singer. After his return he started a band with bassist Tommy Baker and drummer Carl Frye, who began playing the local Arkansas circuits. In 1966, the group traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, and recorded a single, "My Girl Josephine" (a hit for Fats Domino the previous decade)

to the poor side of town. To him you were nothin' but a little plaything, not much more than an overnight fling. Will you stand by me, girl, all the way now? With you by my side. Together we can make it, baby, from the poor side of town. So tell me, please, how much you love me. Come near to me and say you need me, now). Oh, with you by my side. this world can't keep us down. Do-doo-doo-wah shoo-be-doo-be.

A clown puts his makeup on upside down So he wears a smile even when he wears a frown You might think I'm here when you put me down But actually I'm on the other side of town. My body's in this room with you just catching hell While my soul is drinking beer down the road a spell You might think I'm listening to your grocery list But I'm leaning on the jukebox and I'm about half.
