A Night In Tunisia Lyrics. 2. My Reverie Lyrics. Dizzy Gillespie Lyrics provided by SongLyrics. Lyricapsule: The Surfaris Drop ‘Wipe Out’; June 22, 1963. RIFF’d: Nas’ ‘Nasir’. Lyricapsule: The Byrds Drop ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’; June 21, 1965.

Gillespie joined the big band of Hines' long-time collaborator Billy Eckstine, and it was as a member of Eckstine's band that he was reunited with Charlie Parker, a fellow member. In 1945, Gillespie left Eckstine's band because he wanted to play with a small combo. A "small combo" typically comprised no more than five musicians, playing the trumpet, saxophone, piano, bass and drums. Rise of bebop Afro-Cuban jazz Artistry.

Audio CD, Live, September 1, 1957. Frequently bought together. It's a recording of a live concert by GIllespie's big band at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium sometime in the late 1940's, probably 1948. The original album cover claims the record received the Grand Prix award from France's Jazz Hot magazine. Is it really that good? Let's just say I purchased this album as a kid back in 1958 and pretty much wore out the grooves.

Hall (1957) Cecil Taylor at Cafe Montmartre (1962) But Not For Me – Live at the Pershing – Ahmad Jamal (1958) Anita O’Day At Mr Kelly’s (1958) Nina Simone in Concert (1964) Dinah Jams – Dinah Washington with Clifford Brown (1954) Dave Grusin Presents GRP All Star Big Band (1993) Bill Evans The Complete at the Village Vanguard (1961) John Coltrane at The Village. Seems like my favourite live jazz album didn’t make the cut. Recorded Live at the Monterey Jazz Festival by John Handy.
