Edward O'Sullivan Lee OD (born 23 August 1941), better known by the name Bunny "Striker" Lee, is a Jamaican record producer. Bunny Lee grew up in the Greenwich Farm area of Kingston, where his father was a shoemaker. Lee began his career working as a record plugger for Duke Reid's Treasure Isle label in 1962, later performing the same duties for Leslie Kong. He then moved on to work with Ken Lack, initially in an administrative role, before taking on engineering duties.

The Rolling Stones’ transition with their new guitarist Mick Taylor is an interesting period. The so called Trident demos have been in circulation since the seventies with several releases on vinyl and, in the past twenty-five years, on compact disc. Dog N Cat released much of this material several years ago on The Trident Mixes (Dog N Cat DAC-52)

I have the impression that the songs in the record 1 sound like saturated, the bass is drowned, the treble is not sharp and the whistle is exaggerated. It does not mean that it is a bad press, it is that, comparing it with the released monkey mixes recently and its quality is impressive. Something similar happened to me with the presses in mono of the beatles, logically the best results are obtained reproducing them in a team with mono cartridge.

And even the much maligned Brown Sugar is an almost perfect crossbreed song in the new Stones vocabulary, combining a forceful picture of colonial racism with another Jagger fantasy which has offended some people but strikes with undeniable power. The direction of the Stones’ future is clear, though perhaps less predictable than ever before. I doubt if they’ll ever stop writing songs like Bitch and Live With Me any more than they’ll ever stop copping licks from Chuck Berry.

Silk screen version of the Tape Rolling album only 33 made. Comes with a Litho copy of the album so you get the sleevenotes. Each one is slightly different and both sides of the sleeve has a graded silk screen print. Hand numbered limited edition.

In 1971, despite his run of hits, Bunny Lee was still having to support himself with freelance producing at Dynamic Sounds, but by 1974 he was fully independent and poised to dominate Jamaican music in the mid 70’s. The tracks on this compilation capture that moment of transition, when the smaller ghetto producers were taking over from the older musical establishment.
Listening to Bunny’s unreleased master tapes, what bursts out of the speakers is the energy and excitement of the whole production process, from the studio chatter of the musicians to the sonic experiments at the mixing desk. These pioneering steps in deejaying and dub were the launch pad for remix culture and the core production techniques of today, a creative explosion that altered the shape of our popular culture.
