Joseph Holbrooke (1878-1958) is almost forgotten now, but in his heyday in the first two decades of the 20th century he was well known enough to earn the nickname the "Cockney Wagner", thanks to his operatic trilogy The Cauldron of Annwn, based upon The Mabinogion.
