Cantatas Nos. 80 & 140. "Please retry". This is an excellent compact disc of 2 of . Bach's most famous cantatas, Sleepers' Awake (BWV 140) and A Mighty Fortress Is Our God (BWV 80). Both were recorded by the English Chamber Orchestra with Raymond Leppard, with the chorus from the London Voices. I highly recommend this CD if you are looking for a good rendition of either cantata. It's based on a hymn by Philipp Nicolai. BMV 80 "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott" ("A Mighty Fortress is our God") is something of hybrid.

Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" (literally: Awake, the voice is calling us) is a Lutheran hymn written in German by Philipp Nicolai, first published in 1599 together with "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern".
