The Ruins of Beverast is an atmospheric black/doom metal project from Aachen, Germany that was formed in 2003 by ex-Nagelfar drummer Alexander von Meilenwald. The musical style showcases a unique approach to creating complex, atmospheric black metal by combining traditional sounds with more unconventional elements. Lengthy compositions featuring an array of atmospheric and hypnotic components and the use of a variety of extreme vocals and choral singing define the style of this project.

The Ruins of Beverast, a fantastic one man band from Germany, alongside Urfaust, an innovator operator of cleanly sung black metal from the Netherlands. If this isn’t a split consisting of two contrasting legends, I don’t know what is! Even though my opinion of this split varies, I still consider it a worthwhile purchase due to the fact that we’re seeing two legends in the making participate together for the first, and perhaps last time. Let us begin with Urfaust, seeing as they’re the first band to participate on this monumental split
The Ruins of Beverast is the one-man project of Alexander von Meilenwald’s, the creative driving force behind German black metal band Nagelfar. Leading up to when Nagelfar broke up in 2002, their music progressively became darker and less melodic, embracing a more menacing black metal aesthetic. This style reached it's peak in Meilenwald's most personal album to date, his first solo effort Unlock the Shrine, a claustrophobic exercise in depression dedicated to his friend who passed away 3 years prior to it's release.
