However shortly after its release the band had to change their name due to the similarity with the vacuum cleaner company Hoover. A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular is the first album by the Belgian band Hooverphonic when the band was only known as Hoover. It was the only album with singer Liesje Sadonius. The song "2 Wicky" was featured in the movies Stealing Beauty by Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Permanent Midnight.

When the A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular with singer Liesje Sardonius was originally released in 1996, Hoover ran into a bit of legal trouble with the famous vacuum company and had to change their moniker to Hooverphonic. Luckily, it didn't have any effect on their success. Music On Vinyl is re-issuing A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular on 180 gram audiophile vinyl for the first time since its original release. On it is the single "2Wicky", which was featured heavily on the soundtrack of the film Stealing Beauty, starring amongst others Liv Tyler and Jeremy Irons.
