Bob Dylan's October 16 Phoenix stop is almost here, and if his performance at last week's Desert Trip is any indication of what we can expect going forward, classics are going to take precedence over his more recent recordings. But, as the true Dylan fan already knows, his catalog is far richer than a "greatest hits" set list would imply. Dylan's stylings had relatively humble beginnings on his eponymous debut album . Dylan's mellow delivery: Throughout the album, Dylan sounds notably less biting than in his previous work. He quit smoking prior to the album's recording. 9. Desire (1976) In 1964, The Times They Are a-Changin' signaled an intermission in Dylan's protesting.
After taking home the Grammy for Best Alternative Album a few weeks ago, French pop rock band Phoenix is turning its attention to a new project - writing the score for director and frontman Thomas Mars' wife Sofia Coppola's next film, "Sometimes. It's very minimal," said Mars of the new work. It's almost like sound design. Its been nearly half a century since Bob Dylan and Joan Baez were fixtures in New York's burgeoning Greenwich Village folk music scene, and the two performed together during Martin Luther King J. s famous March on Washington. Bob Dylan performs in 2012. Domenech Castello/Epa/REX Shutterstock. In the last few years, Bob Dylan’s Never Ending Tour has featured plenty of thrilling moments with one major setback: little set list variation. While fans in the mid-2000s never knew what Dylan was going to play when he took the stage, since 2013 they have been all but guaranteed to hear Things Have Changed as the first song, followed mostly by other well-rehearsed moments. One fan noted that Dylan has performed Pay in Blood more than 400 times since the song was released in 2012. He’s played Early Roman Kings, from the same album, even more. With these almost identical set lists, Dylan has seemed determined to lock into his own songs and find new meaning in them, or else drive his band crazy.

Modern Times is Bob Dylan's 32nd studio album, released on August 29, 2006 by Sony BMG. The album was Dylan's third straight (following Time out of Mind and "Love and Theft") to be met with nearly universal praise from fans and critics. It continued its predecessors' tendencies toward blues, rockabilly and pre-rock balladry, and was self-produced by Dylan under the pseudonym "Jack Frost"
