They are known also because of their appearances in classic Mexican films. The founding members are from Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. This group was founded in 1960 in the city of El Poblado, Linares (Nuevo León), Nuevo León, Mexico, by Homero Guerrero.

Los Cadetes De Linares were a norteño group led by Homero Guerrero and Lupe Tijerina. When the group was first founded in the early 60's, it mainly played at weddings and parties. The group name was actually named by the locals of Linares, knowing that Homero had a passion for the military (Cadetes in English translates to Cadet, which is a trainee in the military). After a few years, the original accordianist left the group due to personal problems. Next stepped in Samuel, who with Homero, recorded an album with the famous Texas label, Del Valle.

Los Cadetes de Linares were a Mexican Norteño band famously known for their corridos, traditional ballad-style songs about multiple topics like social causes, criminals or heroes in the northern parts of Mexico.
