Before 'La India' their was 'La India de Oriente' or 'Reina de la Guajira'. Born in the village of El Cobre, Oriente Province, Cuba, on July 29th. She started her career at the early age of nine years old, singing solemn hymms. Her father bought her a guitar & she soon embarked on a career at the radio station, Channel Oriental. Debuted '46 RHC Blue Station, '51 appeared on Gaspar Pumarejo Show. 60 moved to Miami, '63 NYC. Died on 3/25/06, of a heart attack.
