Hot Women is a phenomenal selection of really old-sounding world music. The music itself is beautiful and very well preserved considering the era from which it came, so its very nice to have this released on CD. Given the great variety of regions, there are many diverse styles and instruments represented here.

Locations & approximate dates are given for each recording: 1. Louisiana Cajun, 1934 2. Mexican, mid-1930s 3. Mexican, early 1930s 4. Cuban, 1928 5. French Carribean, 1932 6. Brazilian, 1931 7. Chilean, early 1930s 8. Spanish, 1927 9. Sicilian, 1927 10.

These women represent some of the women who have sold the most albums, female singers with the most awards (including women who have won Grammys), female vocalists with incredible vocal ranges, and just some of the most talented women in entertainment. Some of these top female singers, like Florence Welch, are just becoming exposed to a wide audience, while others like Adele and Taylor Swift are known around the world for their vocal talents

This compilation is a document of both obsessions. It brings together 24 recordings, mostly from the late '20s and early '30s, of women singers from a variety of warm-climate cultures (hence the album title): Mexico, Cuba, Turkey, Tahiti, Vietnam, Algeria, Brazil, and Chile are all represented, as are many other countries and regions. Although the sound quality rarely rises above mediocre and is occasionally awful, the music itself is an almost constant delight

Carnes' self-titled second album primarily contained self-penned songs, including her first charting single "You're a Part of Me", which reached No. 35 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in 1975. In the following year, Carnes released Sailin', which featured "Love Comes from Unexpected Places". Kim was also one of the singers invited to perform on USA for Africa's 1985 famine relief fundraising single "We Are the World" and can be seen in the music video and heard singing the last line of the song's bridge with Huey Lewis and Cyndi Lauper. In 1987, she sang the song "My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own" in a duet with Jeffrey Osborne for the soundtrack to the movie Spaceballs. Carnes was one of the various artists featured on the single "We Are the World", which won four Grammys in 1986. Main article: Kim Carnes discography.

In 2009, Guinness World Records cited her as the most awarded female act of all time. Houston is one of pop music's best-selling music artists of all-time, with an estimated 170–200. By far Whitney has the most voice control ever, she has set the standards for singing that has not been matched, she is also the most influential singer in the world. 2 Mariah Carey Mariah Carey, born March 27, 1970, is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She is one of the biggest best-selling women in the music industry, with 18 number 1 records to her name. She is regarded as a sex symbol through her songs and music videos, and she is "well known" for her over-the-top. Put simply, there is just NO other singer in the world that can make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, to the same degree as Mariah Carey.
