This disc, volume two of Deutsche Grammophon's Segovia collection, presents an interesting variety of music mostly from the Hispanic tradition, with the exception of the Italian-born Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and it was originally recorded in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. As the liner notes explain, Torroba, inspired by Segovia's enthusiasm for the guitar, started composing for him in the 1920s

Volume three of Deutsche Grammophon's Segovia Collection presents an interesting variety of Spanish music that was originally recorded in the 1950s and 1960s. The works performed span several centuries of Spanish music, from the late Renaissance (Luis de Milán) to modern times (Albéniz and Enrique Granados). Segovia never hesitated to play transcriptions, and many of his performances of pieces originally written for violin or cello - such as Bach's suites and partitas - reveal extraordinary sonorities and new musical insights. Such is his rendition of Pavanes (6) from Milán's.

Andrés Segovia Torres, 1st Marquis of Salobreña (21 February 1893 – 2 June 1987), known as Andrés Segovia, was a virtuoso Spanish classical guitarist from Linares, Spain. Many professional classical guitarists today were students of Segovia, or students of his students. Segovia's contribution to the modern-romantic repertoire not only included commissions but also his own transcriptions of classical or baroque works

Andrés Torres Segovia, Marques de Salobreña (February 21, 1893 – June 3, 1987) was a Spanish classical guitarist born in Linares, Spain who is considered to be the father of the modern classical guitar movement by most modern music scholars. Segovia claimed that he "rescued the guitar from the hands of flamenco gypsies," and built up a classical repertoire to give it a place in concert halls
