Their fourth album, "Live in Palma", was recorded in front of a live audience in 1997. In 1998 McAleer left the band and was replaced by Sligo musician Séamus O'Dowd and fiddle player Tom Morrow. Dervish's fifth album, "Midsummer's Night", was released in 1999. In 2001 Dervish released "Decade", a compilation of tracks from their first five albums. In 2003 they released "Spirit", followed by "A Healing Heart" in 2006. In the Spring of 2012, Dervish was one of two Irish bands that canceled heavily advertised concerts in Israel citing a cultural boycott of Israel. The band's lead vocalist, Cathy Jordan, stated "it was very naïve of me to think our motives would not be misunderstood and misrepresented. So much so it started an avalanche of negativity which has made it impossible for us to make the trip regardless of our motives.

Jordan really shows what she's made of on "Edward by Lough Éirn's Shore"; with Dervish's other members laying out, Jordan goes a cappella and has no problem making herself incredibly vulnerable and exposed. Meanwhile, Jordan's colleagues are loose and spontaneous on instrumentals that range from the jigs "I Buried Me Wife and Danced on Top of Her" and "Packie Duignan" to the reels "Drag Her Round the Road" and "The Trip to Sligo. Superb from start to finish, Live in Palma is Dervish's strongest release

Their first album was The Boys of Sligo, but it was the album Harmony Hill which won them widespread critical acclaim and was described by many as a landmark Irish traditional album. 1991 singer and bodhran player Cathy Jordan joined the band. Does anyone know the names of the two reels which follow after The Green Mountain on the CD Dervish Live in Palma? There are no notes on the CD about the tune names. Posted by morgan 13 years ago.
