Martin Carthy - Essential Martin Carthy mp3 flac download
Martin Carthy MBE (born 21 May 1941) is an English folk singer and guitarist who has remained one of the most influential figures in British traditional music, inspiring contemporaries such as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon and later artists such as Richard Thompson since he emerged as a young musician in the early days of the folk revival. He was born in Hatfield and grew up in Hampstead, North London.
Martin Carthy is the debut solo album by English folk musician Martin Carthy, originally released in 1965 by Fontana Records and later re-issued by Topic Records. The album features Dave Swarbrick playing fiddle or mandolin on a number of the tracks. Swarbrick was not headlined on the album for contractual reasons as he was with the Ian Campbell Folk Group at the time with permission granted by Transatlantic Records.
Released to coincide with the immensely influential British folk giant’s 70th birthday, Topic's two-disc Essential Martin Carthy collection includes 34 tracks culled from his 40-year run with the label. While by no means definitive (keeping the anthology label-centric omits a great deal of his work, including memorable stints with Steeleye Span, the Albion Country Band, and Three City Four), the overview more than lives up to its name in quality.
A Martin Carthy collection that compilers finally got right The pure and simple early years to confident singer/guitarist. His work with fiddler Dave Swarbrick . defines real non-commercial music at its finest. Rather than taking apart what's not here, I'll go with a well chosen selections thru the mid 2000s
