The Memphis blues is a style of blues music created from the 1910s to the 1930s by musicians in the Memphis area, like Frank Stokes, Sleepy John Estes, Furry Lewis and Memphis Minnie. The style was popular in vaudeville and medicine shows and was associated with Beale Street, the main entertainment area in Memphis, W. C. Handy, the "Father of the Blues", published the song "The Memphis Blues". In lyrics, the phrase has been used to describe a depressed mood.

Memphis Blues is the tenth studio album by American singer Cyndi Lauper. Regarded as a continuation of her 2008 comeback the album was a nominee for the Grammy Awards 2010 and was released on her 57th birthday, June 22, 2010. According to the Brazilian daily newspaper O Globo, the album had sold 600,000 copies worldwide by November 2010. Memphis Blues was voted the 7th best album of 2010 by the New York Post, and it went on to become Billboard's biggest selling blues album of 2010
Hill was a t for whom the harp came first. By the late 1940s, his one-man musical performance was a popular attraction in Handy Park and on WDIA, the groundbreaking Memphis radio station, where he hosted a 15-minute program billed as "The Pepticon Bo. Also known as "the Be-Bop Boy," Louis made his recording debut in 1949 for Columbia, but the remainder of his recordings were issued on R&B independent labels large and small.
