The B-52s (styled as The B-52's prior to 2008) is an American new wave band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976. The original line-up consisted of Fred Schneider (vocals), Kate Pierson (vocals, keyboards), Cindy Wilson (vocals, percussion), Ricky Wilson (guitar), and Keith Strickland (drums, guitar, keyboards). Ricky Wilson died from AIDS-related illness in 1985, and Strickland switched from drums to lead guitar. The band also added touring members for albums and live performances.

The B-52's is the debut album by the Athens, Georgia-based new wave band the B-52's. The kitschy lyrics and mood, and the hook-laden harmonies helped establish a fanbase for the band, who went on to release several chart-topping singles.

The B-52’s, (now stylized as The B-52s) are an internationally successful New Wave band also known for their campy fashion. Their original line-up included Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, Cindy Wilson and Ricky Wilson. Originally, all members of the band played multiple instruments. Its first single Channel Z topped the then-new Billboard Modern Rock chart, and its next three singles Love Shack, Roam and Deadbeat Club were crossover pop hits, all reaching the top 30 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Their sixth album Good Stuff came out in 1992, notably lacking Cindy Wilson, who took a break from the band and was temporarily replaced by Julee Cruise.

  • Great song nice to have some longer mixes. The Rock Mix does a nice job of extended things out but the 12" Mix by Frankie Foncett totally misses the mark with a crappy hip-hoppy beat and no inspiration. Should have had Ben Grosse remix it!
